The History of CSC

Cheap sled challenge started just like its machinery, in the great white
north of Canada. Once a mediocre snocross racer moved stateside, he looked for
a way for friends and degenerates to participate in his old past time of breaking
body parts and failing old iron. Working for a snowmobile manufacturer, he
quickly learned, just because you like snowmobiles, doesn’t mean one is good at
riding them. Having a mediocre sponsorship of gear (so half the cost was
covered), he threw out the idea of everyone setting a budget and getting to work
fixing up some old relics and taking them for a rip. Cheap sled was officially born.

Being a brother from Canada, he will never take credit for cheap sled but
exclaim it’s “our” event….socialist, amirite! The boys now make an annual event
to head to Michigans northern peninsula so he can be as close to home as
possible and wreck some lads in a race or two. The gang packs up sleds, tools and
cold snack for a long weekend of staring at some pre 85 snow machines stating “I
have no idea why it’s doing that”. If and when we start making sacrifices to the 2T
gods, there are a series of challenges to under go. 50 mile trail ride and no tools,
check! Spare plugs, nah! Push this dry aged track that’s drier than Betty Whites
back to triple digits? Sure thing! The boys hold nothing back, especially the mom
jokes.

This annual event started as a way to reunite during the harsh winter
months. Crush some brews. Tell some stories. Test your mechanical might…. and
to lay waste to those less fortunate to not have a privileged background.
Regardless of the motivation, the boys continue to break their knuckles, burn the
midnight oil and trash talk until they’re blue in the face. All this for a silly ass plastic wrestling belt and the moments of glory to reign supreme for another
year. This is Cheap Sled Challenge.
